First I need to make it clear that I am talking about the versions you get from your veterinarian. You shouldn't need an appointment or anything, just go in and tell them what you need. Remember, the good stuff does not come from Wal-Mart. These products are kind of expensive but our vet will sell one dose at a time so yours might too (just ask). To use it, you just break open the vial and pour it between your pet's shoulder blades. The vials are kind of weird so don't be afraid to ask the vet how to do it. Try to keep it in one spot; you don't want it all over the place. You'll see an oily spot for a day or two but that will go away. That's all there is to it. (NEW ---> Click here for detailed directions with pictures, including how to open the vial.) You'll need to repeat the treatment every 1 to 3 months depending on what your vet says. The last time we used it, the package said to repeat monthly but our vet said forget that, it will work for for 3 months. And it did. I think what happened was they added stuff for ticks and that only works for a month but the flea component lasts longer. Oh, speaking of ticks, this stuff works wonders on them. You'll find dried up dead ticks every now and again as proof of that. If you do nothing else, this treatment alone will cure 90%, if not all, of your flea troubles. (Yes I know, there are other similar products available. I haven't used them so I cannot say how effective they are and I see no reason to experiment.) |
