Advantage and Frontline
Frontline and Advantage are flea control products which you apply directly to your pet's coat. They work their way over your pet's entire body and eventually kill every flea and tick on your pet. These products are awesome.
You need to know, however, that there are lots of cheap imitations out
there. You want the one sold by your vet, they havet the good stuff. You
shouldn't need an appointment or anything, just go in and tell them what
you need. Remember, you can't get the good stuff at Wal-Mart.
These products are kind of expensive but our vet will sell one dose at
a time so yours might too (just ask).
You'll need to repeat the treatment every 1 to 3 months depending on what
your vet says. The last time we used it, the package said to repeat monthly
but our vet said forget that, it will work for for 3 months and it did.
I think what happened was they changed the formula to work better against
ticks but the tick part only works for a month while the flea part works
longer. You'll have to see what works for you.
These products come in funky vials which are are somewhat difficult to use (at least the first time) but I have step-by-step instructions here.
These flea control products are extremely effective and using them alone could cure 90% to 100% of your flea problems.
