Treating Your Pet for Fleas

I'm a dog person so this is written with dogs in mind. Cats (and especially kittens) are touchy so be sure to follow all manufacturer's instructions very closely. The procedure, however, is the same.

1) Give your pet a flea bath. A flea dip is not necessary and possibly harmful. While he is in the tub, have someone throw all of his bedding (if he has any) in the washing machine.

2) Isolate him until he is dry. If possible, get him out of the house and away from the infestation until you've treated the house and the yard.

3) When he is thoroughly dry, apply Frontline Plus or Advantage as recommended by your vet. Remember, do not get the cheap crap from Wal-Mart, you want the version that is only sold by vets. This is extremely important.

Congratulations, you've just wiped out most of your problem.
